Well I'm going to removing some money from my stock accounts and need to invest in something a little more stable and more profitable.

Whats the best way to break into the traffic game? I see these sites making $3/1000 impressions for 15k a year, or domains making $132 a month on sedo.

What do i need to do? How do i find traffic domains?

Also how do you keep the traffic coming? Does the traffic ever die? Why would i buy a site that only has 3 months worth of revenue for 12 months revenue? Whos to say that the site will continue to make money?

My goal is to own a bunch of domains making $100/month, or even $50 a month and accumulate them to make xx,xxx a year.

Any and ALL advice is welcome.

well where do they get them to sell? aside from buying them from someone else

They optimize them, and generate the traffic themselves.

First if you want to look into buying names from a seller do a search here for domains for sale http://www.dnforum.com/search.php?searchid=265225 and if you want to find domains that are about to expire soon with existing traffic, sign up for services like Pool.com, and they will sent you a list of names that are about to expire, and then check them first to make sure they will have links etc....

Here is an email I wrote to my brother that might help you understand it better:

First go to http://www.directnic.com/
then after creating an account, go to this page
to get their free domain list daily:
https://secure.directnic.com/myaccount/settings/expired.php
----------------------
The directNIC daily Expired Domain Newsletter keeps people informed about domains that were expired within the last 24 hours. The options below allow you to select whether to receive the newsletter and to set your search criteria. After making your selections, be sure to click the "Submit" button. Your changes should go into effect by the next newsletter mailing.
----------------------

Then after you get them go to http://www.expiredtraffic.com/?deleted. Then after signing up, click on the "go to members area" link. then copy and paste the lists in the field provided. then click "directory listing" then at the bottem click the radio button for the other directory. then click process. It may take a few minites based on the size of the list. then when it is finished click the link to see the list. then go to the bottom and click on the radio button that says download only the directory listed domains. other then the domain "directnic.com" which we already know to be taken, take the rest to a domains site like http://www.namecheap.com/ to check availablity. But before you invest in all directory names, check them out first.

Go to http://www.deleted.urpage.com/tools.htm and check the old site useing the Archive.org tool... if there is no site then it means that it was not a major site! If it is a site that was updated a lot then it could be worth it. But then also check the lick cound by going to http://www.urpage.com/linkpop. Type in the domain and see what sites linked to the name you are interested in. If it has 100's of links then that is a cool name. If not it may still be ok, but I don't usely reg names that are under 10 links, with a few exeptions. Last night I reged http://www.wicworks.org/, a name with 7 links, cause it looks like something people would still type in.

Ok for when you have a few names that you want to park, go to http://www.domainsponsor.=1com/tracker/ref.php?ref_id=1362&s to sign up with them. Then point your domain to http://landing.domainsponsor.com/?a_id=1362&domainname=wicworks.org but change the id number to your own, and change the domain to your own.

But as a site note, you may want to point to your MSNet.us site instead, cause of the Google search results and the fact that people trust Google. I have found that I'm now getting more searches than at domainsponsor by using my own www.goog.org site.

to get big traffic, quick....buy high traffic type-in names....usually these names are considered the very best of premium domains, because nothing more is needed to get high levels of the highest quality (TYPE IN!!) traffic.

The downside is, it will cost you alot to accumulate names like these. Depending on how much you plan on liquidating from your stock holdings, I would venture to guess that $50K-100K would be a good start for buying anywhere from a few to no more than a handful of high traffic type-in domains. The real trick is to buy type-in names that are well targeted to specific (strong) markets/industries. Thus the issue of quality traffic, vs. shit traffic. With well targeted quality traffic, you can monetize it by either employing a parking system using domainsponsor, etc., or acquiring your own (proprietary) advertisers base.

Good luck.
