This morning I received three emails from different people stating they would like to advertise on my site. They asked if I accepted advertising and asked how much 1 month would cost.

All three were from different people inquiring about a different site. Actually, the sites they asked about are parked pages. Obviously they don't really want to advertise.

What's the scam?

Same for me. They didn't even mention a website.

Dear Webmaster,

My name is Jake from Lucky Skills LTD, an organization aimed to help
Webmasters gain exposure using search engine traffic.

Important! This is not a sales pitch. The offer is cost free and effective.

I noticed your site actively participates at link development and website optimization
and decided to contact you in person.

I would be grateful if you could help us by being a part of our link development
Project. You could assist us through many ways. I believe I can in return provide
with quality links to your property, that is, if you have any interest.

For any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanking you,

Jake Nolan

And none of my sites participate in link development or website optimization. Was this similar to yours 768768?

I receive over 200 of these per week, and they started about a month ago. All different email/wording/source etc, but all OBVIOUSLY the same scam - 2 sentences, domain in the middel of the email, domain always all lower case, similar wording. Sometimes I get a burst of 30 or 40 of these in less than 1 minute.

I also would like to know who is doing this and what the scam is.

Mine all looked more like the following... sounds like what Juniper described:

Hello,

We want to advertise our new website on yours - namedeleted .com. Please tell me do you accept advertisers and how much a spot for 1 month would cost.

Kind regards

It's junk testing your email address for bounces.
