Both News features appearing on front page of MSNBC.com:

Bush: 'Serious signs' economy is weakening

Exxon Mobil posts record profit
Oil giant benefits from historic crude prices

Not sure how much good news I can take.

Our president has awakened from a seven year coma and someone is making money in a slumping economy.

Exxon was one of the companies that screamed murder when the Canadian provincial government of Alberta said they were going to raise royalties charged - which are already some of the lowest in the world. They and other oil companies - get this - threatened to leave the oil fields of Canada... to date not one has left after the increase, and in fact two more have come on board.

The US government is running massive budget shortfalls - tax those that can afford it!

The 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq is approaching soon.
Anyone remember the "Mission Accomplished" banner?
Aw, yes. Our commander in chief flying onto the deck of an aircraft carrier as if he was a participant in the bombing run. A tear jerker.

A page taken right out of the movie from the script of Independence Day. The President of the US flies a fighter jet to take on those bastards.

The President: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in this history of mankind.

Mankind -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!
