For Sale When does non resolve start?

i just received a notice (dotster) that my name will no longer resolve immediately after the expiration date, and will be removed from the registry after 15 days, isnt the grace period still part of the timeline?

That's true. Dotster changes the DNS and point to a domain renewal page after the expiry.

I assume they mean "removed from the zone files", as I also assume they still have to comply with the 30 days RGP.

As the man in the street won't understand what zone files mean (I hardly do!) they maybe said registry instead.

but in everybody's opinion, grace period still exists before "crazy expensive pay through the nose " special new added period.

I think you can renew the domain normally at Dotster for 30 days after expiry, sometimes even longer. But better be safe than sorry IMO.
