I found a name that expires today, does it drop tommorrow?

yes, if not today. (check at midnight, or the exact time it was registered)

they drop the name at the instant it expires....

well this name still hasn't dropped yet its now the 17th, supposed to expired the 16th it says.

I think it might be a matter of hours, SG does drop them fast - too fast even.
