Domain Name: XXX
Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com
Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com
Name Server: XXX
Name Server: XXX
Name Server: XXX
Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Updated Date: 29-jan-2003
Creation Date: 21-dec-1999
Expiration Date: 21-dec-2002

>>> Last update of whois database: Wed, 29 Jan 2003 17:32:40 EST <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date.

==============================================

When will this one drop ?
Or will it be dropped ?
Not very high profile name, and maybe noone here want this name.

Is it still 6 days from Local DB ?

Thanks

The drop systems and timeings are changeing - so it might be a bit longer than usuall.

I still have not had time to look into it, but do a search here for:
REDEMPTIONPERIOD - it's a bit fuzzy now however becuase the domain you want expires before January 25th .when the new expiration rules are supposed to take affect.

yeah, confused. I found this :

"No... The REDEMPTIONPERIOD will have the flow of
daily names contained within it. Each day in will
be placed into PENDENDINGDELETE after 30 days and
then dropped in 5 days same as usual."

from askii

So, I assume that we must wait till REDEMPTIONPERIOD change into PENDINGDELETE status and then wait for 5 days.
But, can current registrant renew domain which in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status ?

I assume you are aware of the "redemption grace period", a special one time thing that will keep expired names from being deleted until March. This is from Namewinner's Website:

"Since the the introduction of the redemption grace period by Verisign and the transition of the .ORG registry to PIR, there will not be any domains deleted until the beginning of March."

When the name will drop is dependent on the name. Please specify the exact name so I can give you an exact answer.
