I never knew .de is the second most used tld in world.Have a look into this

.com = 50,100,645 .eu = 1,511,074
.de = 9,720,156
.net = 7,470,062
.uk = 4,783,448
.org = 4,474,941
.info = 2,612,617
.nl = 1,859,732
.biz = 1,352,695
.it = 1,112,230
.be = 1,028,741

Now all these tlds are in market for some long time most of them are in business for 5+ years now if we compare .eu which is only one week old and currently increasing 3-4k every 3 hours in average i see a bright future for it. Rumours are it would be a flop these are the people with pessimist approach and are not in Europe mostly.I had doubts that it would not even cross .org or .uk but now i have started feeling like it would be closer to .de/.net some what in few years time.There are 25 eu countries and many different languages which gives new companies and individual an opportunity to get a domain in their own language "but with .eu extension" which is already occupied in their respective country tld and end of the day .eu would kept on increasing like human population it might never could touch .com but lets be optimistic and hope for bright future of .eu.That is just a newbies thaught.Please express your feelings.

Yes, but you really can't compare a < month old TLD to one that has been around for 5 years; however, in a few months or even a year we can compare where it stands.

I believe that it will have sucess in a 2 year time frame, but in terms of registartions. I see no reason for most european companies to not have an .eu extension , just for prestige reasons, redirected to their .de, or .co.uk, or to .it.
It should be a must. So only for that , which I believe will be the main driver I expect millions of registrations and some time in near future to see 5 to 10 million names registered.

But I think it will take longer , maybe much longer , to see direct traffic to .eu names.

As for the value, who knows. I see it as a long term investment only.
