Doing a keyword search today, came across a descriptive 3 word .info that has a site on it - the .com has never been registered...

I would assume they mass developed .info's when they were 99 cents.
just a guess tho. I've seen similar domains.

No - the domain is bespokeyachtinteriors.com if anyone wants it - the .info is a proper site.

It could be that the .com was registered back then, and they are unaware that it dropped. Or they are plain cheap.

According to domaintools, the .com has never been registered.

That's strange indeed.
.info doesn't look like typical mass developed .info site.
Looks like actual business site with phone# and all.

It's strange that the company is based in England but the .co.uk extension is available as well, just goes to show how clueless people in business are about the importance of domain names.

Email the owner, tell them you're a domain investor, your findings and that they may want to register -- a little good karma/rep never hurts.

Cheers,

I'll agree with that - someone else registering the .com would only be taking advantage of their business - and opening themselves up for a loseable WIPO case.

The email doesn't need to be long but give them a quick explanation of why they should register the .com (and .co.uk?), how little they usualy costs (they're looking at what, $25 a year?), and the basics on how to forward those domains to their current .info domain.

Ok guys, I could use some good karma coming back at me, so this is what I sent the dude;

Hello Richard,

Firstly I am not trying to sell you anything; I am a domain name investor - recently while running a keyword search I noticed that the domain you use is a .info whilst the .com has never been registered. Not having the .com can harm your business by reducing the number of people who find you via the internet. Also, if anyone else decided to start a similar business using that name, they would inevitably get traffic that was looking for you.

Normally I wouldn't bother taking the time to contact someone about such a thing, but I have recently taken an interest in boats (my brother has bought a Botnia Targa 35) and so thought I would send you a quick email; it's a karma thing...

Anyway, if I were you I would register the .com (and the .co.uk) and just 'point' it to your current website - takes about 30 seonds to do and costs approx £8 per year.

If you decide to get it and need any help with the above, let me know, but your webmaster will be able to help you - make sure he doesn't charge more than a tenner!

Best - James

Well done James. Good karma is already flowing your way. :)

Imagine the effect if we could all find a way to help like that once or twice a day.
