Hi Everyone,

I guess you could say I'm a little to new domains, but I am especially new to the different auction houses. I would say I have a pretty decent portfolio. My normal buyers aren't buying right now so I am deciding on putting my domains up on one of the auction sites. I have heard Sedo is the industry standard of sorts, but I have also heard some bad things for instance they have high commissions. I also heard some things about Afternic but I hear they have a membership fee and commissions. I also am unaware of these sites transaction processes. If anyone could fill me in on what they believe the best domain market is and why I would really appreciate it. Also if you have any other reasons why I should be concerned with any of the auction sites please let me know as well. I'll take PMs too if preferred.

thanks a lot,
Brian

Sedo is a good choice. The commission is 10% if you park your names there. The minimum fee is $50 otherwise which doesn't work for low $$ names but for over $500 names, it doesn't matter. I have used them for years with no problems and overall, they are quite professional plus there is no listing fee. You should definitely list there. Unless the name goes to auction, you are free to list elsewhere too.

I may be very short sighted but for myself, I am unwilling to pay a membership fee, so I don't use Afternic. They have contacted me before with offers and I accepted at least one. I assumed that the seller was paying the commission which is true for NetSol and Go Daddy in these instances. The charge was about 15% as I recall but others may know a lot more. Go Daddy charges you to list and their system doesn't look too effective other than for them making money on their expired domains.
