i've been keeping my eye on a domain hoping i can pick it up when and if it expires - its not being used for a website, and its a few months until its due to expire.

i've got a domain alert thing on it with godaddy and they sent me an email saying that the WHOIS server has been changed in the last couple of days. nothing else seems to have changed - it seems to be registered in the same name, and there's no change as to what's actually at the url.

does the change to the whois server indicate anything significant?

The owner most likely renewed it.

if its transferrred to another registrar, could that be just something that happened at an admin level not as a result of the owner of the domain doing it, or would it mean the owner of the domain has done it? - from which i could take that he hasnt forgotten he owns it and is maybe going to use it?
