I don't know I think he doesn't need to be a ad agency as the domain is worth the cash I think.
What do you guys think?
Also I'm pretttyyyy sure hes like 18 or so.

Found him:
The domain Ad.com sold for $1.4 million yesterday at domain name registration company Moniker’s TRAFFIC conference in Silicon Valley. The winning bidder was Divyank Turakhia of Directi.com and CEO of Skenzo, a domain parking company.

In that case he should have known better. Id take On.com for half the price all day long. Who the hell wants to search for ads ? And besides it's AD not ads. In fact On.com and Ads.com both from what I can tell are better in terms of search and certainly use. All I have to say is when a guy getting a piece of the commish on the sale is the one slapping your back and cheering you on to bid more and you do ??? My opinion is the name was at best $500k range, $1m-$1.4M crazy unless an end user or someone with a master plan we can't see. Especially considering the LL market in general is down sharply 40%+.

What angle is there " put ads on ad.com " forget placing them in spots people go naturally, make them search for you lmao Maybe alot of adware or a really nice calculator ?

It also breaks the rule of " dont be confusingly similar ". Visit add.com and see what range things resolve to.

I doubt traffic bleed towards add.com would be a major cause for concern. It's likely it will flow both directions in any case. Once it's developed, how hard is it to mention "ad with one "D" in a radio broadcast...

Does seem way overpriced though considering what else is out there on the market right now. Though I would be shocked if he shelled out that kind of money without some form of a well researched path towards profit realization (and some idea of how much that could be). Maybe I'm naive, and it's pure speculation...

AD.com would be huge outside the domain scope. Ad agencies are a huge market and the price is peanuts. Div "overpaid" if you use a domainer's logic when in fact he paid the amount a medium scale ad campaign would cost. And he's not 18, he's 25+

Tony, not sure what you are getting at but I make my opinions based on comparisons and of course my gut to a degree. I have sold 4 LL .com in the last 1+ yr totaling 7+ figures. When I evaluate a name like this ( LL ) word, traffic, use, recent sales etc and the pros and cons I just do not come close to $1.4M ( reseller ). Now if he has a solid plan to make $400 a day with it parked thats great, fair buy, other wise it would involve a huge amount of spec.

I have no idea what those mentioned names have with the domain value. In fact in that list ( apart from Adam as I would rank him the smartest buyer in that list and not sure what Ron does ) have spent 6 figures on .mobi ( bust ), 6 figures on a " cowboy " name ( bust ), one has been dumping names at a loss, and so on. Big wallets and having your face out front does not equate to a smart buyer. We all make mistakes dont get me wrong ( myself included ) I guess some just make 5 figure mistakes and others 7 figure.
