If US laws governs all .com, .net and .org's because they are managed by US companies (Verisign), why haven't the RIAA gotten a US judgment to get verisign to seize their domains?

If I understand how they worked correctly because technically they didn't do anything illegal, they didn't host any files on their servers. It was all P2P - they just indexed it all.

Yeah, but from what I understand, the reason they can get away with is, is because they are located in sweden, and swedish copyright laws aren't the same as US laws, meaning they wouldn't be able to run the same site had they been US citizens.
But since Verisign is in the US, I'd assume they could still get the domains seized with a US judgment.

In a word, timing. Besides, compare PirateBay now than before.

They were lucky.

Cause here in sweden we don't automatically bend over backwards every time the US government whistles... just yet....unless you've read the cablegate documents :)

Either way, there is a relatively strong support for these issues in Sweden, paired with legislature to be relatively proud of (i think). The guys who started the site are diehard copyleft freaks (and more). They have since been all around (including court).

Also, let's not give anybody any ideas. *sshhhh*

Haven't they been to prison once? I heard they were making $80,000+ per month in ad revenue.
