Anyone know why domaindeluxe is incredibly expensive?

I offered for a domain that's probably worth $100, and they replied back saying $4650? They never even responsded to a $500 offer. Only when I put $1000, they decided hmm, lets counter $4650.

Ive got them down to $3k right now, but they dont seem to be going any lower. This process has taken almost 3 weeks. They are quite slow on response. I just dont get it.

That's probably how they make money, just sell one of their domains for $3000 and buy a ton more with it.

anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this?
thanks

If you think the domain is only worth $100, why do you care so much about it?. Perhaps its worth more then what you believe its worth.

Not really, no one cares for this domain except me, because its another version of my company name. It contains a word and number after. Nothing anybody would want. Its not my domain either.

Try to offer any domain they own of their site. They don't accept offers below $1500.

I experienced the same thing once. Made an offer of $2k for a domain name few people should be interested in. I had a trademark filed, that they probably saw, and they noted all the other extensions were taken (unforetunately, mostly by myself). I eventually had to pass, instead of throwing "insane" offers out on a property I haven't even begun to develop fully. I still suspect they'll eventually just drop the damn thing.

I made another offer for a different domain name once, and was countered with $2,000. They let it drop 3 months later, and I caught it at Pool. It's all a game. In the end, I feel you always have to be ready to be content leaving the showroom floor with your money in your pocket.

When I missed XXXXXXXX.XXX a couple of years ago, I was told that only offers over $4,000 would be considered. Good for them. With hope, I'll catch that in a couple of months. These things happen all the time.

I experienced something similar when I made an offer on one of their domains, I was ignored :-(

With all this bad press, I hope people don't confuse me (DeluxeNames.com/NamesDeluxe.com) with DomainsDeluxe.

I agree with NT. After doing a bunch of small deals for < $500, I'd rather hold out for one at $3000. Less work, probably the same payback or more in the end.

DomainDeluxe = vertical axis?

I don't think so.

I could be wrong though.

Not really, no one cares for this domain except me

They cared enough to pay $6+ for it.

2 steps:
[1]Do a WHOIS search for colinyu.com
[2]Do a WHOWAS search for DomainDeluxe.com[when it was regged thru DotReg] if you can

:-D Good Luck

I forgot to add the name "Proto.Com" on the first post, they are all the same party.....

Thanks GA.

I didnt see anything when I skimmed the WIPO link.

Does anybody know a Kevin Ham then? (HostStart.com)

Where colin yu and kevin ham tie in together?

From my understanding, I thought he was the main/only guy there..

Was just an assumption, I never really asked.

Thanks.

You're welcome. I believe Mr Colin Yu and Mr. Kevin Ham are the same team of Proto.Com

At least the company owns <Ham.Com> :-D
