Adam, please kindly clarify that Exclusives can at least enjoy the benefit of being exclusive and not subject to "micro management" of sales threads :)

We have seen (or at least I have seen) abuse of this and its very annoying and distracting.

Someone (exclusive? I don't know...) was selling articles and decreasing the price every few hours.

Personally, I though it made the seller look cheap and rather desperate.

Seeing too much of this lately and then people want to know why they can't get top dollar for something. It is almost as if "wait and hour and they'll lower the price".

As for all these sales threads with offers posted by the seller - but no offers posted in the thread - I also hate weeding through the bullshit.

If someone wants to try to convince me that it is a multi-forum post, then they should post the links to other forums that the sale is running on.

Recently, I requested this very thing from someone who was selling an name (or two) I was interested in. All these offers and bumps of offers were coming in almost by the hour, but from where? When I asked for confirmation of where the other threads were posted at, I got none. In fact, my comments were erased from the thread when I feel they were legitimate questions and wanted to see activity from somewhere (anywhere) before I made an offer against phantom, mysterious, or bogus offers.

Later, the OP PM'd me and wanted to know which ones I was interested in. But, again, without him providing any links to other threads, forums, or sales venue to ascertain if it was indeed a multiple post - I told him I had lost all interest.

Some threads need to be closed, whether they are exclusive members or not. Being exclusive (in some cases) is not a pass to fvck over someone or try to hump someone's leg and tell them its just a bump from PM or another forum.

Gerry, those are valid concerns and those that break the common sense rules should get a warning. It should not be a blanket blocker to everyone else that uses common sense. Exclusives can post several sales threads a day, yet I don't see anyone abusing this perk. And yet, I'd like to be able to post updates to a pending sale thread (internal or external at e.g. Sedo) without fear that a moderator will close it.

In reference to bumping a thread, I'd like someone here to define what a "Bump" is?

I've been accused of bumping threads that are weeks and even months old by one particular ex-moderator, who thankfully we don't see much of any more.

I agree with you on these points.

But we don't need hour-by-hour updates which I believed happened recently (not from you).

In regards to phantom or bogus bidders, I am fully aware of the Buyer Beware mantra. But in the case of someone posting multiple price increases with no visible signs of activity in the thread, then this is very likely someone bumping their thread. Equally so, if someone were to ask where these prices and increases are coming from and they respond PM and multiple forums, I do not think that asking for links to those other forums are out of the question and an irresponsible request.

Likewise, if my comments are erased for posting comments in a sales thread (when they are actually very legitimate concerns and requests to post links to the other venues), then perhaps the thread should be closed because all the poster seems to be posting falsely elevated offers which is essentially doing nothing but bumping the thread.

And if someone takes it the wrong way and refuses to post the other links, then there is perhaps something smelly going on.

Both John and Draggar do a great job here but there are some rules that need to change.

I will be changing how we moderate the board going forward.

I will post the new rules for the mods to review this weekend , then after I get their feedback, I will post them for the rest of the board to see.
