I started organising my monumental collection of MP3 files tonight, and discovered to my horror that the new Windows Media Player 9 had started messing around with my files without permission!!!!!!
I first noticed something was up when I saw that on some of the files that I had saved from ages ago, the modified dates had changed to the last day or so.
Thinking perhaps some virus or something had somehow messed them up, I had a look inside the files and discovered that the player had started inserting it's own ID3 tags.
This is truly appalling behaviour from Microsoft.
Changing files without permission is illegal, 'Computer Misuse Act'!
