Give me a break!

“Our leading-edge customers, like Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal.com and MSNBC.com, have embraced mobile advertising as a way to widely deliver high-value content to the phone without forcing consumers to pay yet another subscription fee,” said Scott G. Silk, president and CEO of Action Engine. “As more companies build mobile applications that make their content easy to use and free to download, the wireless phone will become the premier location for driving brand awareness and loyalty with consumers.”

The MySI Mobile application is available today with support for 29 phones running the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. Windows Mobile is the exclusive launch advertiser for the new service. To download the MySI Mobile application consumers can text “MYSI” to 58585 and receive a text message with a link to download the service. Alternatively, consumers can type http://www.mysi.actionengine.com/provision on their phone’s mobile browser and follow the download instructions provided.

How many ways can you think of to connect to the mobile web?

And download instructions?

See, this is what you get when you pay a company to create and promote a service for you. This is Madison Avenue at it's finest. Convincing everyone that the way we did thing 10 years ago is still the way to do it today.

True. You are seeing the point.

But si.com is not their mobile site. They, si, wanted to create a mobile site.

So they turn to someone else to advise and create. Monumental waste of time, money and effort.

What gets me is TIME, Inc owns mysi.mobi.

But to concoct and create an infinite number of ways to connect to the mobile web is the most mind numbing experiment.

Now, instead of simply adding a prefix or suffix, we have the creator of the promotion adding THEIR OWN name and site into their client's URL.

Not only that, this is the URL you go to:

http://www.mysi.actionengine.com/provision

to get instructions on how to download the mobile si site.

Let's complicate the hell out of every thing.

Amazing.

I am on the wrong side of things.

I need to get back into advertising and create mobile sites.

I will tell everyone that .mobi has no future, no one is or will ever use it, and all we need to do is take your existing site, add some salsa and flavor, pour it in a bag, shake it up, give it a new name when it comes out, and pay me $500.00 per hour to consult, discuss, design, and develop a new site.

For dnforum on the mobile, see me at:

http://www.dnforum.melgerllc.com/provision

and I will give you instructions on how to download something that normally would not even require a download to begin with but if I made it too easy then no one would pay the ridiculous fees I am charging and if I did not make you visit my website first then you would not come to my site to begin with and make my site more popular than it already is and mobi sucks.

You can damn well bet that there will be a ton of locked bathroom doors with the 12-15 year olds inside scrolling with one hand and spanking the monkey with the other.

Most likely a bunch of 30's somethings at work too. :pound:

I'll bet their mobile network will be jammed and crashed servers once that hits.
