a brilliant marketing tool.

I've just reg'd wordpairs.com.

I want to use this to list domain names that consist of two words that are good for search engine optimisation. It will be effectively a sub-domain, so it doesn't need "domain" or "name" in it.

Is this a nice idea, or just another low value name that I should have left unreg'd.

A domain name example would be www.computerthreats.com

Using the phrase 'online casinos' (any phrase will do, just this one would have many potential searches), and provided at least one page of the site focuses on optimizing that particular phrase too, Google's emphasis on domain name value is usually something like:

online-casinos.com
boost of 1%

onlinecasinos.com
boost of 0.5%

Most of the time, the hypenated domains win, in fact, I haven't noticed a major change in that respect for more than three months. But either way, domain names probably aren't enough of a consideration for SEO experts, as their overall value is limited.

I still think the domain is good though. Isn't there a game called wordpairs ?

Hey, thanks for the comments. I thought it was good for listing domains like

snoweagle.com
sexsubs.com
camclips.com
jazzpics.com

This seemed better than having a massive list and trying to index it. I take your point about hyphens, but I reg'd any-domain.com to list my domains with hyphens.

I don't know about the game but it looks as if wordpairs.com was up for sale for $500 for a couple of years with no takers. means it must be worth less that that I suppose.

If you want to use "effectively a subdomain" for whatever alleged search engine advantage it might have, then why not just use a subdomain? Why bother to register (let alone purchase from a speculator) separate domains for every combination of keywords you want?

- You don't get as many type-ins from a sub-domain.
- If you host it on a different ip you can enhance link pop.
- If you want to target specific markets you can just give the url of the sub-list.
- If you want to add domains belonging to another person, it's easier if they have their own managed domain.
- I like hunting for domains
- You can create mirror structures in case of hosting difficulties.

And a few more reasons I can think of.
