Like many other new domainers, I have made the mistake of buying a bunch of keyword domains, even though their google keyword frequency isn't that good. Today I have found several domains with really good "in quotes" google occurence but I am almost out of money and I want to know whether you think they're worth buying.

I found a 2 word 7 letter .net that makes sense across the globe with 9.2m results in quotes, and 23.8m results without quotes. Is this a sound investment?

The question that I am really asking is, at what level does a domain become worth something when a search within quotes returns high results;

If I search for something in quotes and it returns X results, at what level of X should I buy it?

Cheers,

Finbarr

Hard to say without knowing the name :)
Use a registrar that allows tasting like dynadot, register the name and ask for opinions. If you change your mind you can cancel it within 5 days.

Being a net, ask yourself:

  • Would I use the domain myself for a startup?
  • Is the domain commercially relevant? (as opposed to being 'cool', 'neat' or 'funky')
  • If I was an end user would I pay good money for this specific domain, or just reg some other .net or .org myself

The 7 letter domain was gmttime.net. Worth it given the results?

Do you have development plans ? I would have settled for something a bit more generic like timezones or timeconverter (difficult to find I know).

I got AccurateTime.org in the same sitting. 1.3m results in quotes. I'm gonna develop that into synched clocks all ticking at the right time to the nanosecond :) Glad you guys think the name wasn't completely rubbish.

Google result pages have two sided story.

Are you a enduser or reseller?

If you are enduser, less is better since it means less competitions.
If you are reseller, more is better since it means more potential buyers?

I think you should pay more attention to OVT.
Best domain would be high OVT with low google result pages.

Correct me if I am wrong :D
