I know what kind of response you're going to get, Icehole...

No matter how good the prefix, I would bet that everyone on here will say something along the lines of: WS = worth s**t!

Be prepared!

I don't necessarily agree, but I don't like the extension much, either.

It is getting promoted a bit though, so who knows...

If you want to develop , you can use it.
No resale value.

That's a good illustration of the problem with .ws. There are LOADS of great root names available in .ws. Why are all of them available? Because no one wants them. There is zero resale market for them.

You can certainly put a web site on one but then you have to brand it completely from scratch with an extension no one in the general public is aware of. If they do come across the name, in a search engine for example, it looks foreign to them (which it should - it IS foreign) and they are unlikely to click on it.

I don't click on even major country codes like .de or .co.uk because I assume they are targeted to their domestic markets. Nothing wrong with that if that's your market, but if your market is not Western Samoa why would you want to make everyone else think it is? Even if they don't recognize the WS for that specific country they do perceive it as being a different country than their own since it is something they have never heard of.

To sort out all of the confusion this causes would takes a lot more time and money than the returns are likely to be worth.

Maybe, but only if the sh*t is delivered unpackaged. The cost of a bag would exceed the value received from .ws in return for the sh*t. :)

actually, I am thinking of regging some cool names.
Not to resell, but to develop good names with good sites and then sell.

I think it is possible, and I really have some good ones cooking

Ice I'm sure you could develop some nice sites, but with that .ws extension on them it is unlikely you will ever be able to sell them. Do you want to waste your time developing sites for resale to a market that doesn't exist? A pretty web site on .ws is like an otherwise beautiful woman with a huge hairy wart growing on the end of her nose (all you notice is the wart!). :)

Where exactly on your names for sale page are the .ws names you're selling? I don't see them.

I disagree.

Of course .ws names are crap for resale, but great for developing.
Developing in terms of build a few pages, do SEO and submit - after having hooked up with the right affiliate program of course.
Which effort are you talking about? Which marketing?
It's all about the searchengines.
And monthly income instead of reselling names.

If you can make it work beatz then I am all for you. Black ink on the bottom line trumps everybody's argument! :)

I still think there are plenty of good names left in extensions that will have resale value as well as produce a monthly income so why not kill two birds with one stone if you are going to go to the trouble to develop anyhow.
