I am looking at a specific .CA name that appears to have been squatted and dormant for 10 years or so. The owner info is not available, and when I tried sending a private message through CIRA, got no reply.

Is there anyone who would chase this down and buy it for me for a fee?

ps. If there is a more suitable "Gold" forum to have posted this in, let me know.

******.ca

My budget is to not spend too much money, whatever that means. A couple hundred dollars would be fine.

Let me understand this post ...
-he wanted someone to help him and he was willing to pay a fee... pay what kind of fee? how much?
-his budget is couple hundred dollars. and he is saying the domain has been reg's for 10 years so doing the math the owner is going to have to pay him to take it.
-He makes remark about the owner being a squatter in opening post. :frusty:
-Overall just being honest here I'm starting to understand why he never got a response.

I would think there are better ways to aquire a domain.

Seriously hope you can aquire the domain you want.

good luck :yo:

Thanks for your replies.

If anyone can help me contact the owner, and figure out what the owner would be willing to sell it for, that would be awesome.

Iancc, helpful but so far no joy, phone# and email are dead. Thanks though.

Stewie, any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

My budget is negotiable, but so far I have nobody to negotiate with.

What I typed was actually helpful. I was just being honest with you. I would try Ian's numbers but don't tell the guy he is squatting or not using the domain it's not the best approach. And this is just my thoughts everyone has there own and can chime in. I would not respond to an email with a negative tone with no serious offer if it was my domain.

That's as helpful as one can be. I personally would not have posted the name in public either but again that's my thoughts. I would edit that out and pm name to anyone willing to help out with your search. Hope this helps

Please note: there are domain name investors and developers. The only ones that are squatters are those who hold TM names. calling people who own names that are not currently developing them a squatter is offensive. just a friendly heads up.

So... my bad with terminology. Did not mean to imply that anyone was the dregs of society.

I have gotten some helpful tips here. With some investigation, my guess is that the domain is really abandoned, and perhaps the original owner barely remembers it. No guarantees of that, but it's a possibility.
