Maybe it's the wrestlers transferring it to the wildlife people after the court cases.

Damn! The whois info comes up in Dotster with creation date 01-DEC-02. It was indeed a drop and somebody got it from NameWinner for $8.75!

It was a delete and Dotster got it. WWE have been deleting a load of ex-WWF related domain names.

It's now registered to you. Nice pick up for just $8.75 ;) Wonder how long you'll get to keep it though! ;)

Like nobody else wouldn't have noticed! ;)

I suppose he could have use a PO BOX but maybe he doesn't need too. The World Wildlife Fund might not want it. They might just not want World Wresting Entertainment (formally World Wrestling Federation) to have it.

Anyway, we'll see (or beatz will!) ;)

Hi Beatz,

If I were you, I'll make up an acronym like World Wide Families and immediately setup a web site :D. Anyways, congratulations!!

I can't believe David Thorton thinks they just might not want it.

They obviously spent millions in court to get wrestling not to use that name.

They may be willing to spend alot to buy it rather than spend all that time in court.

If anybody bothers you beatz, I would be sure to refer them to an American attorney. The attorney can offer them a settlement if they want it.

You may have to spend some bucks trying to keep this.

You spelt my surname wrong! ;)

I think it is quite probably that the World Wildlife Fund might not want wwf.com. The main aim of their lawsuit against the former World Wrestling Federation was to get them to change their name and branding to remove the conflict over the 'WWF' trademark. They felt that wrestling was damaging their image as a charity.

If a third party had the domain name, as beatz does, and it wasn't used for wrestling then they might actually be happy with that. After all they have wwf.org and WWF in terms of wrestling no longer exists. The aim of their lawsuit has been realised.

You might like to check out who owns wwf.net. It's not the World Wildlife Fund.

Seems reasonable ..
Their main objective was to get grown men in underwear hugging each other off their acronym. ;)

Try pointing it to amazon.com or something and see if it picks up any revenue. This is obviously generic enough and if people want wrestling books then they will find them.

The problem with affiliating this name, I would think, is that almost anyone going to it is looking for wrestling apparel. So if he was to affiliate with WWE Home Video, he might do well but he might be opening himself up to being sued by the World Wildlife Fund.

Personally, should he wish to set up a site selling old WWF videos, from the WWF era, I don't think that'd be unfair. However whether a court would see it that way, I don't know.
