If you own a domain name, you can forward it anywhere you want to.

I see it didn't stop you from finding the right place. :)

Exactly. From what I remember from last year, a "Wanda" had registered "dnforum.net". There was a whole thread about it involving revenge, etc. If someone else owns this other domain, I'm sure they are simply trying to sew confusion and misunderstanding.

As the person is using Enom's nameservers, its not as if we can assume that any information in the whois record is valid.

This is regretable, and should not be taken as any "move" by DomainState.com until someone says otherwise. I agree with Fonz that it definitely IS a *smart move*, but I believe it is a *smart move* by someone trying to mess with people's heads. :(

Interesting, I just read about what happened afterwards. The name game is such a tired hassle. People should stop playing these games.

By an odd coincidence 2 of the 3 DS Mod's are from Australia, the 3rd one Safesys is from U.K. I am not saying that is related to the above ownership of dnforums.com but likely just a coincidence. But it's always possible a fellow countryman from AU wants to help Domainstate out by buying the name and putting it on redirect, perhaps even without the knowledge of the Mod's there.

Domainstate is 100% non-us owned and operated. That's one of the reasons I prefer DNF (U.S. owned) in that it seems the .US extension is much more popular at DNF than DS. Not sure if the ownership and mod location is the reason for this or not. But being a major .us holder with more than 400 dot-us names ;) it seems to make DNF more valuable to me than DS, though both forums are good, with DS appearing much more conservative and businesslike than DNF is. DNF also seems to be more active and larger but DS is gaining ground fast it seems.

The order of events sound a little screwy there. This person apparently registered the name last April as a defensive move for a forum they enjoyed. I remember first coming to this forum last July/August and once, accidently thinking it was dnforumS.com, and pleasantly being redirected to the right place (I thought, hey, "good move guys"). I never once thought to look and see who owned it, I just assumed it was the owner of dnforum.com. Apparently the owner of dnforumS.com recently decided they'd stop pointing it here, and point it at a website they find greater preference in... or point it at the other website to bug the owner of dnforum.com (or both).

It's important to note that by the dates and behavior, the name wasn't regged *just* to point it to domain*state. There was a change in intention/allegiance at some point.

I'll leave to whole US./non-US thing alone though. I consider DNF and DS to be fairly International. I'd prefer to focus on that.

well thats what got me the first time it went to another site, I just typed in dnforums.com as i always did, for some reason my brain always told me it was forums, I still do it now and again.

I do sometimes read up on domainstate, but don't post, I think I registered here to reply to a specific post, and occasionally reply to others becasue I'm already registered so its easy, with domian state there has been no specific post that has made me want to register so I just haven't bothered
