Yahoo now offers a free domain similar to what 1and1 does

If you recall the odd business model of 1and1.com was you buy a so called 'package' which includes a "free" domain, etc. You are charged even if you do not have the domain in the package with 1and1 or transfer it away or want to let it expire (which we all hate in other threads)

Now Yahoo appears to be following the 1&1 business model but at a much higher price. including hosting:

Yahoo has also been doing this for quite a while and will still charge you even if you somehow transfer the name away...

Don't believe anything you see on yahoo services section.
-- They will dump you on the way..

1) Their domains - cheap to start -- $35.00 now -- If you do not renew your domain - They don't drop it, they will charge you $45.00
-- if you move out a domain - You need to cancel their service or get a $35.00 charge to your cc

Their YPN program - Never got to Production (they just dumped all the publishers instead of figuring out the issues.

I bet other can give more examples of Yahoo Services mess..

Stay as far as you can from yahoo services.

They are not crooks but they just don't know what they are doing.
