http://arbiter.wipo.int/domains/decisions/html/2005/d2005-0091.html

The disputed domain names are:

<yel.com> Denied;
<yellweb.com> Transfer;
<ukyellowpages.com> Transfer;
<londonyellowpages.com> Transfer.

Why did people think YEL.com is confusingly simular to their mark, and for that matter, how could they claim exclusive tm on "YELLOW PAGES" in the UK?

Yel.com could be considered as being aurally similar to yell.com, if spoken aloud they sound the same. The US trademark laws, such as the Lanham act, certainly have clauses for aurally similar marks.

but overall, it looks like Yell Limited was full of crap in most of that udrp.

What about people that own ye.com can they claim the yell.com domain?

Would that be you? anyway, I agree, it may be a good typo, but it has little meaning. It is a basic 3 letter domain that could be anything.

No, I just asked this question out of curiosity.

ok ... If that was the case, then www.Q.com (quest.com) www.X.com (paypal.com) and I think there is one more 1 letter left, they could go after all names that start with that one letter! I can't see how that could happen.

Ye.com is not substantially similar to Yell.com, neither aurally nor visually. Therefore this is a non-issue.

www.Z.com (Nissan) is the only other one letter domain not reserved.
