Hi David,
These are what sellers are submitting and buyers are bidding on. It's a trend that's going on now. Please follow these links to learn more about it:
TheDomains.com blog wrote about it here:
http://www.thedomains.com/2010/02/01/want-a-good-mx-domain-you-should-check-out-bido-com-today/
and we blogged about it here as well:

and:

Thanks Jarred for the info and keep up the excellent work by you and the Bido team.

P.S. I am surprised .mx names seem to be popular in view of the very high reg prices (which I believe are $35/yr or more) and also the somewhat questionable use of English words coupled with a non-English extensions as is often done?

Thanks Dave for the kind words.
In regards to the price, people said that about .com when they were expensive as well... today's investments see tomorrow's returns.
And about the use of English language on the Mexico extension, not only is English a language spoken there by many, its used by English speaking people from outside Mexico looking for information in Mexico. And also there have been some very large sales in country code extensions where the domain was in a different language than the national language of the country. Mexico is bordered to the North by the United States, so its certainly a neighboring language, if not #1 national language there, perhaps #2... Really it depends on your choices as an investor as well as your business plans and strategies. There were some more discussions on those links I linked to about the same topic, might be worth clicking and reading into. One thing is for sure, they are selling like hotcakes now that the word is out. We'll post today's results tomorrow.
