In 2001, i tried to register a short name with "name(s)". Shorter was "name(s)" preceded by a vowel; but a, e, i ,o ,u were all already taken (and even b,c,d,...), meanwhile, i had the fantastic chance to register it with "Y"...

but as a site to develop, this is easy to remember by everyone, with "Y" a symbol of many concepts/words/things, like Yankee, Your, Young, Yes, Year, etc..,etc...

I kinda like it.

But I think that these two are better:
dnames.com (of course!)
and
xnames.com

xnames has better brand potential than ynames, IMO.

i cannot disagree with David ...furthermore, "Y" can be :

- Yachts :for sailers, yacht-clubs,..
- Yarn : coton clothes...
- Yeah : yes, yes... and...
- Yearning : to get this name, of course ...

Ynames.com = Why Names? A site that deals with the significance of names, perhaps the significance of domain names -- I ll leave this up to you Frenchie.
Me thinks this sounds better than "Yellowpolkadot Names" or any other arbitrary "Y starting-word + names.

So WHY (Y) are domain names important?

Thanks Ipatlas, i did'nt know that "Y" can be understood as a contraction of "why" !
