I called FPL (Florida Power and Light - eclectic company) over a week ago about electricity arcing from the power lines to a palm tree in front of my house. They said it could take 21 days to get someone out to look at it. I wasn't too comfortable about it but I told them that they could get a call from my lawyer if it caused a fire.

Apparently they were out the other day and left this on my door, read their comments, I'm actually laughing at it even though I know how dangerous the situation was.

I'd give your lawyer a call anyway. Have him send a letter to them threaten them with legal action if some damage comes to your property. You'd be amazed how fast they'll get back out there to fix the problem.

I'd just rig my tv and refrigerator up to the palm...

Dude, I have a friend in morningside (very nice area) that the same thing was happening to. About a year after she reported it (they never came) it actually started a fire, which crossed over from the tree to her house. It was light damage fortunately. I don't recall if they paid the for the damages or not, will check with her.

It's been documented with them and they gave me documentation showing that it did burn - IMO they should be liable if it does catch fire especially since they prohibit anyone from pruning trees that are close to power lines.
