I'm writing an article on domain valuation and I would like to get a perspective from forum members from all levels.

How do you determine what a "premium domain" is? The obvious answer is what someone will pay for it. But are there specific qualities you look for?

Thanks All!

Premium domains are:
- dictionary word domains (generic),
- domains which get much targeted traffic,
- brandable, nice-looking domains.

Traffic levels can make a domain premium, so can domain length.
Even "premium" letters can make a domain premium.

Tia, I would first ignore the term "premium" - unless we're talking flowers.com etc... it's pretty useless and can be whatever anyone wants it to be - thus you'll get a whole load of different answers to your original question.
What you should be looking for is what makes a "good" domain. That's not easy to pin down, as it depends on ones expertise and outlook. For example if you are a developer, then a certain "brandable" domain can be a good one. If you are a parking revenue person, brandable is useless unless it has links/google pr etc... If you are an arbitrage person, maybe a hybrid of brandable/generic might be best.
So beauty is in the eye of the beholder to a certain extent.
