The domain "z.com", the one of shortest .com domains, has been sold for $6.8M (800,000,000Yen).
The buyer is "GMO Internet, Inc.", a Japanese Internet company.
Here is the press release (written in Japanese);

It must be the biggest deal in this year.

Just for your information:)

A huge amount to be sold for, wow. I don't recall when I saw a previous sale of a single letter .com

When .co was released in July 2010 we heard big news in mainstream media that Amazon had acquired A.co and Z.co (you all know their logo, the arrow starts at the A of Amazon and ends at the Z, that they sell all things under the sun, a to z) and also that Overstock.com had chosen O.co as their alterego after getting O.co Well, with the 'tepid' success of the .co ext lol we haven't heard much about a.co, z.co or even o.co the last 4 yrs. But when a single letter is sold for so much, like Z.com was, we should be able to find this in mainstream news, we'll see...

Excellent domain! I imagine most single letter .com's would sell for similar prices or more, if they came up for sale.
