Should an online casino domain necessarily contain the word Casino?

That´s of course if we talk about a new, not well-known and established brand.

I totally agree. It's all about branding. It just all depends on how you plan to promote such a brand. For example, if you heard the word "Draft Kings" for the first time - what would you think of? How about "Fan Duel"? Neither has the word "bet" or "betting" or "gaming"... but these are some of the largest brands in their industry.

Here's an online casino as an example too: bearplatinum.com

Yes, "casino" in the name helps a new user know what it is. But is it critical for business? No. Once you know, you know. (Plus "casino" is an extra 6 letters in your domain name to type.)

Hope that helps.

Over the past year, I played in many online casinos and many of them had the word casino / slot in their name. I think this is more understandable for people. There are many useful videos on YouTube on this topic, for example

Casinos are a slippery material. I don't know how things are with online gambling in the USA but in Russia&Ukraine it's completely prohibited and websites are getting blocked country-wide. So guys running online casinos are registering a domain that is somewhat related to a casino's name like "Casino 777" or "Casino Vulcano", it gets blocked, they go and buy a lot of easy-memorable domains like "c777", "cas777", "cas-vul", "vulcano123" and use them as redirects.

The point is that it depends on laws in a country of however buys your domain. You can gain something by selling names with "casino" or you can try to offer your domains to the "not-that-good" type of guys I mentioned above. In any case, it's tricky & I won't bet much on this unless you're searching for a domain to run a casino of your own.

It can contain the word casino or gambling, but the better idea would be to put your brand's name in it, as that way you will look more professional to users and you will attract more clicks.
