Anything .ca goes in this topic except selling of a domain, for that please support the board and use the correct forum.

I am a collector of positive one word .ca domains.

My most recent acquisition last week was holidays(dot)ca

Today I finalized the acquisition of flirt(dot)ca

They fit in perfectly with some of my other one word .ca domains.

Yup, a ccTLD exclusive to Canada

The cost of acquisition for one words are reasonable compared to .com's.
The highest I paid for a one word .ca was 25k

As of late though the market has softened quite a bit and I am buying for 1-2k

I was averaging 5k a few years back but I am mostly hunting the bargains right now.

The problem is that due to the nexus requirements most of the world is excluded. This is why they can't command too high a price. I would love to speculate on them, as I'm sure many people would, but the barrier to entry keeps them niche.

And it doesn’t look like they have any intention of opening it up to “no restrictions”
If they did the market would get a significant boost from names going to california based buyers.

That's the whole point of .ca guys

They will never trade at .com values but that is ok, there is money to be made there and keeping a ccTLD exclusive to the Country it belongs to is a good thing.

I think it’s important to keep .ca Canadian. When I see a website and it’s .ca, I know they either have a Canadian presence or are Canadian.

I totally agree that we should keep it Canadian. I agree with nafti...I like that it generally denotes Canadian or Canadian presence.

I do not see a post about it and I apologize if I missed it but I would like to congratulate @MapleDots on being a staff member/moderator here. What an amazing choice it is. He is my neighbour (well about 45 minutes away). I have done dealings with him on a few occasions. An outstanding guy all around! Congratulations!!!
