If we all had great developing skills, more of us would be rich imo.
Problem comes on relying on developers & we know most of them are a pain in the ass.

Good luck to this girl, she has her head screwed on really well.
I love the fact also they were a working class family living in a flat.
Good on her

i hear ya.....where do u even find good/reliable developers??

It's not so much the actual developer skills that got her site famous (developing in terms of website functions etc), it was her unique layouts etc for myspace pages.

For a loooong time, she hadn't even optimized for se traffic (and I mean, at all), it was purely word of mouth (and we all know how many gazillion myspace sites are out there). Quality stuff brings visitors - content is king

That site is full of popups, and yes, a pain to navigate but good for her.

It's definitely a cool story. She obviously had a brilliant idea and executed it perfectly.

That being said, from what I remember she dropped out of high school to work on this site, which is a mistake in my mind. Things on the internet can change so fast - her site could be worthless in a year or two. Without a high school diploma she could run into problems in the future...

Moral of story, create an interesting site, that is a must have resource for a large group, put time, energy and love into it, not starting it just to make $

Often it seems to happen like this, THEN the moola comes a flowing

Daddy Pred next,........ perleaaasssee !

Imagine going into a job interview at age 19 and showing your future manager your resume that says "Owner of a million dollar company 2004-2009." Who wouldn't sell their high school degree for a million bucks? I would have done the same in a second. You can get your GED which is accepted by most colleges in about 45 Min.

Good for her running a site from 14 and making money from it, however i really cant seen how that site makes millions.

Looks like a PR stunt to me - i suppose it saves spending $$$$ on advertising ;)

Haha, I don't think she'll be showing ANYONE her resume in hopes of getting hired. People will be showing HER a resume.
