My email to Monte said:
Monte,
Like many in the forums, we are waiting until we see the reserves for the auction. There is no point registering if the names are out of our range.
There is a huge spread between $1 and $5000, and it makes it real hard to bid on multiple names when we have to finish proxy bids by Noon tomorrow.
Will you be posting opening prices soon?

Monte's response:
"Silent has opening prices, live will not...they are ranges only
go to silentauction.moniker.com and register. You can submit absentee bids by returning this form to me via email and the names and maximum bids by 12 PM PST on Tuesday. The silent auction started today and will run through 1/24/07 at noon.
Access code is monikervegas07 for both.
You can download the list from
http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/index.html
Let us know if you have any questions. You can pay $99 via paypal to
[email protected] and put internext access or we can pull the funds from your account. Let us know."

My reply to him:
So how will you know where to start the bidding? Bari asked me for minimum I would accept including your 15%.

Monte's reply two minutes ago:
"Because we do this for a living. We know the reserves...the audience does not so you do not force bid patterns and buying"

Okay, so now it is more confusing.
1) It appears the silent auction has already started and goes until 1/24 instead of just until the Live auction is over. There are 30 users registered but that could be mostly Moniker staff.
2) I'm
assuming submitting absentee bids by noon PST Tuesday is for the live auction only, not the silent auction.
3) Since there is no starting price, I have no idea if reserve will be made. Since the sellers have not given permission (at least, I didn't) to sell for less than the minimum, I want to see what happens when the high bidder is less than the minimum bid.
4) Proxy bidding is basically out the window if you are not in attendance to bid. You get one shot, then the live attendee has last say. This is what you get for $99, I guess.
I'm losing faith in Moniker real fast. Communication has been horrible and last minute at best.
