No... that's a price RANGE... $1 - $5000 is the RANGE the domain asking price is within.

Sorry about that... should have explained.

GoPC -- thank you. I appreciate it.

Now...how do we bid if we are not going?

LOL!!!

I don't have a freakin' clue!!! All I say was the option to PAY $99 on the Moniker Website. I imagine, once you do, they will show you how.

After reviewing the list, I see 6 of mine made it to Live Auction, and 69 are in Silent Auction, if I didn't miss one or two upon first review. I had submitted 179 total so that's like 41.8994041340%, right? I guess I can't complain. Hopefully something sells. I would have chosen the names differently, but it's not my auction to run.

One concern I do have is those price ranges. My minimum for a few was at the upper end of the range, so I hope when actual bidding occurs, live or silent, that those values are given.

Does anyone know maybe from experience, what is the order that the names will be auctioned off in the Live Auction? Will it be in alphabetical order as listed on the sheet? Or, is the Order to be determined somehow?

Thanks!

Great exposure for us domainers :)

Thanks to Moniker and all through and though.

I got 4 in the live, 2 are mobi's and 40 are in the silent. I can't complain about that.

The price ranges do seem kind of screwy. I don't think it would be a terrible thing to reveal the reserve amounts for the silent auctions so people know if they are wasting their time or not.

My email to Monte said:

Monte,

Like many in the forums, we are waiting until we see the reserves for the auction. There is no point registering if the names are out of our range.
There is a huge spread between $1 and $5000, and it makes it real hard to bid on multiple names when we have to finish proxy bids by Noon tomorrow.

Will you be posting opening prices soon?

=======================================================
Monte's response:

"Silent has opening prices, live will not...they are ranges only

go to silentauction.moniker.com and register. You can submit absentee bids by returning this form to me via email and the names and maximum bids by 12 PM PST on Tuesday. The silent auction started today and will run through 1/24/07 at noon.

Access code is monikervegas07 for both.

You can download the list from
http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/index.html

Let us know if you have any questions. You can pay $99 via paypal to [email protected] and put internext access or we can pull the funds from your account. Let us know."
=======================================================

My reply to him:

So how will you know where to start the bidding? Bari asked me for minimum I would accept including your 15%.

=======================================================
Monte's reply two minutes ago:

"Because we do this for a living. We know the reserves...the audience does not so you do not force bid patterns and buying"

=======================================================

=======================================================

Okay, so now it is more confusing.

1) It appears the silent auction has already started and goes until 1/24 instead of just until the Live auction is over. There are 30 users registered but that could be mostly Moniker staff.
2) I'm assuming submitting absentee bids by noon PST Tuesday is for the live auction only, not the silent auction.
3) Since there is no starting price, I have no idea if reserve will be made. Since the sellers have not given permission (at least, I didn't) to sell for less than the minimum, I want to see what happens when the high bidder is less than the minimum bid.
4) Proxy bidding is basically out the window if you are not in attendance to bid. You get one shot, then the live attendee has last say. This is what you get for $99, I guess.

I'm losing faith in Moniker real fast. Communication has been horrible and last minute at best.

I'll take some. Is anyone covering it live? Thanks.

I generally give a transcript/play by play for every Traffic Auction (to many great reviews of my readin audience) along with some witty commentary ;)

You can see my previous coverage at gopc.com on the FORUM there. "Almost like being there" they say :smilewinkgrin:

The Vegas Auction seems a bit longer than the last few. Scheduled for 4 hours... but I'll be hard at work just as I always do.

I will be posted and updated LIVE at gopc.com on the Forum starting at 3:00 PM through 7:00 PM and posted indefinately.

Best of luck to EVERYONE... myself included ;)

Communication could definately be better. I'm not even sure if they are using proxy bidding for the live auction or if a bid is a bid. On the absentee bid form the language is "maximum bid". For all I know if I put a $5k bid on a 1-5k range name the opening bid will be 5k.

Silent auction is simple enough. I'm registered and had a look through and there is a "reserve met" or "reserve not met" field so I see no bidding problems there.

After 12 hours, there are no bids yet on the 2000+ silent auction names. 39 registered users. But then again, they have until the 24th to purchase at the silent auction.

I've decided to skip the live auction this time and save the $99.

Folks - just to address some of the questions and comments above, Silent auction did start yesterday, however, everyone are in conferences through tomorrow here and probably will not get active until they get home. Anyone bidding in the Silent auction can do so through 1/24/07. We are still registering people over the next 7 days here between two conferences.

Absentee bid forms are due to us by noon PST today and this is for the live auction, not the silent auction. These bids will be considered along with the other activity during the live event.

The $99 access fee is for access to both absentee bidding and the silent auction. You can send $99 via paypal to [email protected] and put for InterNext Access.

If a name is in a category, it means that the reserve price is within that category range. If there are interested parties in the name, the name will obviously bid up and possibly out of that category to another category based on interest and competition.

When submitting your absentee bids, you will want to place your maximum price on each domain. If your price is above reserve it will not automatically become the opening bid. For example, if you bid $10K on a domain and the reserve is $5K and there is interest at 6K but not at 7K, you would win the domain at the very next increment after $6K what ever that is...perhaps $6.5K. However, if there is continued interest past that amount up to $10K and that becomes the highest bid, you would win at that amount. If there is interest above $10K you would lose.

Again, if anyone wants access to either or both, just email [email protected] and will get you started.

I just registered for the silent auction a few minutes ago. It would be nice if there was an option to sort the auctions by name (alphabetically), actual bid (highest to lowest), and number of bids (highest to lowest). Instead we have no choice but to browse from one page to the next or search for a specific keyword, which makes things difficult..
