With the new kids.us law requiring the government to spend millions to promote .us to both kids and their parents (that is the exact language of the bill) you are sitting on a Goldmine.

Thanks Duke, excellent points you have made and I now understand and agree with what you were trying to say with type-ins being over-rated meaning other ways to to go, etc. Sorry I did not understand you correctly.

Most of the truly great .us names I tried to prereg were taken before my lists were submitted but I did get some good ones.

Yes, I think kids.us and its publicity will help greatly. There was a post here yesterday that .us new reg's were higher than any other extension on that day, some of tht may be due to kids.us.

P.S. Your music collectible site sounds very interesting and profitable. Congrats! Are you able to share that url with us?

The only reason I didn't include it is that I am wrapping up this very weekend a complete redesign of the site and I would like people to see the new design rather than the one currently up that has not been changed since 1997. It does the job but it looks really dated! I will post the URL as soon as the new files are done and uploaded which should be in just a few days.

Thanks for your useful thread. I was surpised to find out there were any 3 .us still available until now, except perhaps for alpha-numeric ones.

A similar thing happened in the uk with .co.uk domains a few years back. Nominet announced the nic fee for .uk domains was decreasing from £20 to £5 (About $30 to $7.50).

One company snapped up all 3 character remaining .co.uk domains the day BEFORE the price drop, to make sure they'd get the names. I saw some articles saying what a foolish thing to do,etc, this firm could have waited a day and saved thousands, etc. But I think that person/company is having the last laugh now, they sell their names for a minimum 4 figures.

This .kids.us thing seems like great news, especially for whoever owns .kid.us
But what exactly is the significant difference between what the government is doing with .kids.us and all the other .us domains on the reserve list? Aren't these for .us agencies to use as well?

Also, I haven't seen anyone say .kids.us is a bad thing, but neulevel was opposed. It may be just the beginning of government intervention in the name space. What if kid.us or kiddies.us became porn sites? I can't imagine a congressman/woman who would do nothing

My main partner in developing Politics.US flopped out, so I'm selling it. It's really one of the best imaginable .US domains. I think a political discussion/talk radio oriented site would do quite well.
But I'm also a liberal sap, so if the buyer is going to use it for some bleeding heart purpose I agree with, I can go lower on the price.

Ford, your site is too cool for words.

Don't sell it. Find another partner/sponsor or maybe get some forum software like dnforum.com and ask for moderators to volunteer. anything, just hang on to it.

I am going to email gregr and see if he wants to set up vbulletin on it and run it as a nonpartisan free speech no-holds barred political discussion.
