That's a very important element. Some people don't even do that.

Yep - I'm trying to do this with two other sites (well, updates a couple times a month) but there is a lot of competition with similar sites (but are .edu) as well as many sites with .edu back links.

Would buying backlinks on .edu sites (I see them being sold on eBay) have that profound of an impact (positive) on my ranking?

@ grcorp...Ryan Deiss ( creator of the $1.9K course "Perpetual Traffic" thinks a .gov and/or edu does). I have about 4 .edu backlinks myself, for my blog that is now in Google's first page , spot#2. Whether that is a direct result of the 'edu links, i've yet to find out myself.

Anyway,I would think twice before buying those ones in eBay though. If a .gov or .edu site is crowded by spam comments like "buy viagra," it might do your site more harm than good. It'll only be a matter of time until Google tracks the 'footprints' of sites linking to a so called 'edu' that are actually full of spam comments. That said, 'just PM'd you, check your inbox...i sent you a file of .edu's. I had a homework I was supposed to do for you but didn't do it ..... 'hope this one makes up for it :)
