colleague at work explained how .baseball, .hockey, .realestate, etc will replace .com!

.com is dying, companies like Coca Cola, will use their own brand vs .com

I explained to him, .com will always win the race and will always be the KING of the internet. Look at the rest of the extensions in the business, any success in defeating .com? Answer NO!

He is convinced .com is dying......

I would not be so sure it will be ALWAYS the king, but in foreseeable future it will (and there can always something unexpected unpredictable suddenly happen which could not have been foreseen of course...)

the only thing that would kill .com would be domains being obsolete.

Yes, they are dying.

Especially these crappy one word .coms and ones which are only three letters long.

But to help everyone out, I'll happily buy such domains for $5.00 ($1 if they are expiring before 2011)

Hope this helps.

How many domains does he own...if any, what ext's? Done.

Yes, I'm assuming he doesn't own any, at least nothing good.

Imagine a colleague telling you that you should short Apple because he thinks they will go out of business due to heavy competition in tech. BTW, he has never traded stocks or even followed the market. So if you followed his advice, not only would you be selling any position you have in Apple, you would betting against them and all available info on the value of the company just because some nobody had a thought.

Sounds more like a envious colleague if you ask me... I have a friend like this, She puts down what I have and pumps up what she has.... Drives me nuts.

The average person doesn't think much about domain names and how many are left.

They are not even sure what do when they see a parking page, when they checking to see if it is available. They just figure 'damn' and move on.

They are amazed that they can buy a name that has parking page on it (that is if the owner wants to sell).

I've brokered a few names now for local clients who just needed a little hand-holding to get the process going....once they knew there was a process.
