Hi,

I'm just about to take the plunge hopefully and buy my first expired domain name.

I understand when the domain transfers from one owner to another all of the google backlinks and PR are lost.

Does anyone know if this is the case with DMOZ and yahoo directory listings?

AFAIK, nothing about the domain should change when it transfers registrants.

Where did you read about this?

Not true, MAYBE the PR can be lost... but backlinks still there.

No, that's not lost.

Bornagain, the PR and google backlinks are not "officially" lost. If someone told you that it is probably because they are under that impression because if a site goes from being a hosted site, to an offline site then as a result googles spiders will sense that those pages are no longer online and the google backlinks shown and PR will subsequently drop but the reason is that those pages no longer exist- it is not because of a change of ownership.
