HiWhy are unregistered (premium) domains so expensive and who owns them?

Why do you think it is a conflict of interest creating a reserved list?
I dont know the exact number, but I believe some registries and 100k´s of reserved/premium names.
If I am not mistaken DotTravel started this even before we had the Ngtlds, and DotMobi gave Domains to Sedo for an Action when they started. I remember this because I bought a mobi for 100k or so, shame on me
And what are we doing different?
domainer do the same!!!
Uff, thats maybe a little bit hard.To me registrar is equivalent to a government agency.
I'm not saying that the government is good or bad.Registrars have different responsibilities.Uff, thats maybe a little bit hard.
do you mean this in a positive or negative way?
Yes.Registrars should compete with each other for business. Domainers are the customers.ICANN is the government.
Registrars are businesses - which is different
Maybe I'm not understanding what you meant by reserve when it comes to domains.Hi
if, they are unregistered, then the registry/registrar, is the registrant.
new extension registries, can "hold" certain keyword domains, and just charge more (premium price) than other less desirable terms in same extension.
however, some label them as premium, when in fact, the term in that particular extension, may decide if it's premium or not.
imo....
I clearly understand what your saying and I don't agree with it.And what are we doing different?
domainer do the same!!!
ICANN is the government.

Oh stop it!It wasn't well laid out.He needs to explain his comment about "Domainers do the same".Registrars are the suppliers and Domainers are the consumers.Well laid out.
Sorry, no, completely wrong ICANN is not government. ICANN was setup by the US government, it is now and continues to be, an international, community-driven organization independent of any one government!Well laid out.
HiIt was a metaphorical comparisons to the original post
Metaphorically speaking, they are the government to the domain community. If they are creating any laws or regulations that we must follow, they are governing.Sorry, no, completely wrong ICANN is not government. ICANN was setup by the US government, it is now and continues to be, an international, community-driven organization independent of any one government!
