Just wanted to let you all know that I will be gone for about a week starting tomorrow. My wife Lesa and I will be going to a nearby state to get our son, Noah. It's really a neat situation. A cousin who is 20 decided to let us adopt her child (who has yet to be born--sometime Friday!!). We got the news in late November so it's been fun keeping up with the legal paperwork and home study.

Anyways, I'm going to be a "dad" after all these years (34 years old) Oh the catching up I've got to do. Ball games, late nights watching whatever trips our trigger, and fishing trips up to Minnesota. Ok now back to current reality...diapers, late night feedings, etc. etc... Ah, I'm not going to mind that either :D It's all good!!

Regards,

Fantastic izopod. I was almost 31 when our first was born. So you're not quite over the hill. :)

I'm very happy for you and your wife. I'm getting all teary eyed. :)

My wife and I are expecting next month. This will be our first as well. If you think you got a late start, I'm 45. Retirement and high school graduation all in the same year.

Congratulations to you and your wife. Let me know what to expect.

WOW!! Congratulations Stevo!!! Best of luck. Do you know what you are having??? You were probably like me. It just doesn't matter. Waking up at 9:00 a.m on weekends for Meet the Press with Tim Russert has gotten old. It will be nice to have a little guy coming running in at about 6:30 a.m doing a swan dive on the brass ca-honahs.... and asking me "if I'm awake yet".

The story with Lesa and I is that we've been married 11 years. We waited till after we both graduated college thinking that would be the "right time" to have a kid. Come to find out after a couple visits to a fertility specialist that because of my wife's condition we needed to try and have kids when she was still in her early 20's. To make a long story short, we've both learned that everything in life is precious. Don't take anything for granted. We're here for such a short time.

Anyways,

Good luck to you!

We were told we should expect a little girl. Ninety five percent sure they said. Yeah, well what about the other five percent chance!

In all honesty, either will be just fine.

Yes... It will be more or less an open adoption. She would like for us to raise him and be his parents. She in return would like a relationship someday when he is older. Which is fine by us. I look at this way. She gave us a gift and we will return that gift by raising him the best way we know how. He will also get to know his birth mother and love her as much as my wife and I do.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes!!! Really that means a lot!! See you next week!!

Congrats Pod and Stevo.
nobody can prepare you for what you are about to experience but let me tell you it's worth every missed hour of sleep and sh**ty fingers at the end of the day. We have a 3yo and a 1yo and every day is a new and fun adventure for all.
well done and good luck.
