I've been talking with another member regarding this.
The reason? How to make an iPad connect to the cell phone service.
Well, Android is about to make that happen with their newest update,
Apparently the updates are coming next week in Android 2.2.

With USB tethering and WiFi hotspot smarts, Google Android 2.2 could suddenly give phones like the Nexus One and the HTC Desire an extra spark. And Apple will need to think hard about how iPhone 4.0 deals with data.
