This seems to be one of many Answerable registrars which Snapnames ends with

Are all of these directi resellers?

Answerable is.

I hate them with a passion.

Stole about a dozen nice one word hindi names.

Did not transfer them, said they had expired (not true), wanted $80 each to reclaim, I refused, and all ended up being picked up by the same person in India.

Wow, SO GLAD I dropped in this thread.

I decided to check my answerable account and was shocked that I had one of my coveted NC geo's in there. Sure enough, won in a Snap Auction.

This morning I received:

"Our records show that you have registered one or more domain names at General Names. SnapNames will be terminating its relationship with General Names. While that will have no direct impact on your name(s) registered with General Names we nonetheless recommend that you transfer your domain name(s) to another registrar well before the name is set to expire. We will assist you in any way that we can, but please be aware that we have no ability to control or influence the operation of General Names."

Okay, so I understand that they have a problem with "General Names" but what really pisses me off is Snap's disclaimer in the last line despite the fact that Snap is the one who processed the registrations.

Received total 19, all manage at answerable.com panel. But still about 30 exists so who knows what was the reason for it. Those might be private registrars who are cancelling beeing on Logicboxes platform, that would be bad. I do not understand Snapnames public relations - no explanations, nothing.

I received 9, all at answerable.com as well. Must be a consolidation of some sort.

Any idea why so many shell registrar companies hang around SnapNames? Strange situation...

Were these really registrars or shell company satellites of SnapNames? Wasn't Pool playing the same game? Is ICANN really that much corrupt?

Just wanted to clarify a few things here regarding the SnapNames' Email being discussed here:

1. The name Answerable.com was included by SnapNames in their email by way of error. It should actually have been Internet Service Registrar, Inc. We have already sent an email to SnapNames requesting a correction.

2. The domains registered using these Registrars are being managed centrally at Answerable.com. Customers using Answerable.com to manage their domain names will be able to manage their domains as they always do. Rest assured any domains registered through these Registrars will not be affected in any way whatsoever.

Thanks for the post. Any idea why so many of these satellite / shell registrars exist in the first place?

It's not a secret. These are all "ICANN accredited registrars" - in the same sense that beef jerky is the same as filet mignon.

Simple - for Dropcatching.
Enom has over 100
Pool has over 50
Directi (Answerable) has over 50
Snapnames has also around 100

Anyway I would like to know from Directi
-WHY this sudden war with Snapnames ?
-will you start your own dropping service or give these connection at disposal to Namejet/Pool ?
