I'm thinking about getting back into the market, I was in last year as a newbie and bought 500 shares of F for $1.18 sold it at around $1.50. Today it's at $16 and some change. Talk about kicking myself in the ass

I don't want to call myself a day trader, but I've been trading stocks for 2 years now. Only on the Norwegian market though (OBEX). If you want back into the market you better wait for a huge correction (which is likely to come any day now) or go short.

Was active trading ten years ago and I have learned something:
- What you sold will go up
- What you bought will go down

You said it.

And what goes up must come down.
But what goes down does not necessarily go back up.

What you bought might go down yes, but it usually goes up again. :) I'm up around 45% the last 6 months. But as you say, a few bad trades and you might be right back where you started. Right now I'm all in bear derivatives.

I'd be kicking myself to. Day trading is too damn risky.

I'm not actively trading, but I have had my eye on some good, affordable stocks.

ticker: MOVE
current price: $2.38
3 month increase: 20+ %
YTD increase: 40+%

MOVE provides the technology behind REALTOR.com and several other real estate related websites...

In this economic mess were in, I would think GOLD would be the place to invest.

I don't what it's up to right now, but I know it's far up there than it was 8 years ago.... I bought this Gold chain for my husband about that time for $450, recently a jeweler who was fixing something for us asked to see the chain, he weighed it and offered us $1150 for it, we were quite surprised and turned it down of course.

Did Gold really double in the last 8 years?

Investing in the markets is a good complement to domaining. You can do both online and make good returns if you invest correctly.

ANYTHING you bought in late 2008, early 2009 is probably up right now. Fear was huge back then but it was the time to back up the truck and buy good quality companies. I like following junior mineral/diamond explorers on the Toronto and Vancouver exchanges.

I remember when Gold was around $300 an ounce back in 2000, now it's hit $1400. I also remember oil being close to $10/barrel. Back then tech stocks were all the rage and commodities were seen as cheap and plentiful. Some think gold could soon hit $2000. I don't know. Natural gas is near all time low prices right now, that could be a good long-term buy.

We should have a dedicated thread here on DNF for stock picks and market moves.

Maybe we can get this thread going again... would be nice to start a section.

It is looking like another positive year for the markets.

I haven't traded stocks in a long time so I can't say much about them. But I do trade Forex now a days and it is a very lucrative market but very risky and highly Volatile.
I have lost plenty of money trading it but it has taught me a lot. I have had days where I made up to 5 figures in one Day but then a little stupid mistake and you are
back to where you started lol.. But in the long run if you really learn ins and outs of trading Forex, one can make plenty of money to not ever work a job again. And one
good thing about Forex is that it is open 24 hours for 5 1/2 days so basically you can trade any time of the day.
