Interesting how their "business" is parked (with Sedo, even!)..

Same first name, different last name (Usually people who do this register their domains w/ private registration).

I'd say continue on with it, start a dialogue but if they ask for an appraisal though a "preferred service" then don't bother, walk away.

Can you accept 12,000 USD?

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://webtalk.007sites.com/Archive/421689.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

Red flag city!

1) The blog's domain is <1 year old
2) The blog's domain is under private registration
3) The company's domain is less than a month old
4) The company's domain is under private registration
5) Unless he is the only person working for the company, the CEO will not do emails like this, that is up to the peons.
6) It came from "CEO" (no name)?

That's about as fishy as the Boston seafood market during the late winter / early spring.

Got an email also about a week ago, and others in the past. Their game is getting you to have the domain appraised at one of their trusted appraisal services. Hence, that's how they get their cash.

It seems there has been a confusion.
A message was received on the support desk regarding a confusion here.

Message posted was:

Draggar and Ordersomething,

I'm afraid you have both incorrectly referred to eliteinvesmentS.net within this thread when the potentially scamming emails originated from eliteinvestment.net (without the s). As you will see in Ordersomethings third posting in this thread (where
he has copied the correspondence he has received) the website in
mention is in fact www.eliteinvestment.net.

You will also see references to potential scams from eliteinvestment.net on the following threads:

http://www.dnforum.com/f557/hmm-possible-scam-help-please-thread-326911.html

http://www.dnforum.com/f557/email-eliteinvestment-net-thread-322715.html

Draggar - could you please remove your posting that discloses the personal details of the owner of www.eliteinvestments.net as he does not wish to be associated with a thread regarding potential scams.

Thank you.

Since this thread was brought back up, I figured I'd post up my experince with this guy.

My first encounter ended up being the typical back and forth e-mails (about 10 of them) with him insisting that I get an appraisal. I finally just ignored him after realizing it was a scam.

. . . fast forward a week later.

I got a second inquiry from the same guy for a different domain under a different e-mail account, so I decided to try a different approach (since I knew it was a scam). I replied to his e-mail saying that I really didn't need the domain and for him just to give me his GoDaddy user name and e-mail and I would push it to his account for free.

. . . I never got a reply back.
