Anybody got any ideas whats this going to go for. I bid it up to 7k but it looks like bonkers has his heart on it and Im losing steam. I may put 1 more bid but if i dont get it Im gonna have to drop out.

Even though I LOVE the domain. The domain has an ARTSY feel to it that i like.

Thats it I'm OUT - bonkers can have it for 8 k

I cant afford anymore

But it is a great domain :(

This is not some domain that was had for regfee in the early 90's, the guy who used to own it paid 10k for it back in the day, it is very surprising that he let it drop.

Great name, I can't bid, but I do live minutes from the artichoke capital of the country and I'm sure they would love this domain

What was the final price?

Still in progress at $15,251.00 with 19h 31m to go.

Vaxis in the lead.

I forsee bonkers and vaxis battling out extending the auction by at least half an hour or more.

b o n k e r s

He was going to be my second pick, when he wants a domain bad enough, he goes after it, which I respect, but paying way beyond what its worth?, well that's just Bonkers!

It has some nice search volume (Almost 10k overture), overture with extension of 35, and there are some small advertisers for recipes, and other artichoke related items.
It could also be used as an art website, which was the case with the previous owner.

How can you not see the value of a one word, generic type-in domain? And not an obscure word either, but a word that every English speaker knows.

This domain will get type-in traffic forever and ever, from people looking for artichoke recipes, schoolchildren wanting to learn about artichokes, or someone simply curious. These big investors are taking the long-term view. If the domain only makes $10 a day, at $26,500 it will pay for itself in 2650 days = about 7 years, and after that it's pure profit.

Not to mention that some player in the artichoke industry - a grower, processor, distributor or an industry association - might be willing to pony up big bucks for it. See for example:

http://www.broccoli.com/ - a food processor

There are many other food industry sites with generic names.

It may not make $10 a day from type ins, but it certainly can when it gets developed, even with a small and poorly done site.

In any case, they can have the type in traffic pay the rent until the right end user comes along.
