I have pre reg about 200 .asia domains in the past 2/3 months.
I thought it would be 'first in frist serve'
Now they are all going into auction[if more applications]
So 'the rich ' can sit back and just out bid anybody.
Any comments?

I dont see how you can call it a Scam...

Did you do any reading on the Sunrise periods before you pre registered?

As for the domains going to Auction, all I have to say is, "Welcome to Domaining"

I registered these domains long before the sunrise period.
There was NO mention of any Landrush auctions then.
The'scam" is that the rich will get any domain they want.
FYI, I have over 1000 Domains registered.

Try and register sex.asia
This is what you get:
sex.asia Asia Reserved/Not Available

Why?Trademark?

I'm trying to figure out why you or anyone else feels the first person should be entitled to the domain, Why should you get it and I dont?, is it because you thought of it first?.. Everyone should be afforded the same opportunity to these domains, If it was first come first serve prior to going live, What's to prevent one person or company like buydomains from writing a script and grabbing all the great domains ahead of everyone else?, would that be fair? Of course not..... This reminds me a lot of the reasons against WLS.

If you feel you cant compete in an auction setting, try going after domains with less activity and low bidding... If you cant do that, I suggest you wait until GO LIVE, when the registry DOES open on a first come, first served basis.

As with most things in life, it's all about money.

The people behind .asia didn't think 'ah, let's create a .asia TLD for the good of man'..

They will withhold all the better names and try and make money out of it and of course, all us eejits, will help them.

All the the other decent names will likely be snapped up by the usual suspects leaving the crap for everyone else.
I haven't got a problem with that at all. That's business and that's life.:eek:k:

The only real way to beat this system is to come out with your own TLD...

If you look through the previous registration periods (Sunrise etc..) you will see that they have offered domains to legitimate business owners throughout Asia first. Then there is the issue of auctions etc...

Most of the best ones are already gone. I planned to register about 120 names during landrush (all premium) out of which only three are available. :D

Just go to www.registry.asia and read the rules. They announced that domains with multiple applications will go to auction from the very beginning.
I think it's fair and not a scam. That way you have a chance and don't have to fight against a network of virtual registrars.
The end price will be more or less the same, just that the registry gets the money and not the man in the middle. This way we can hope that the registry price will drop in the future as they will make a shit load of money out of those auctions.

I'm kinda wondering why you're so upset about not being able to get "sex.asia"... I mean, if you're a porno king, sure, it'll definitely be worth your while.
But if you're not, you were just going to auction it off yourself anyway, right? So they're basically cutting out the middle man on it.

Sorta offtopic: I've always wondered what the auction rate on (what I like to term) ironic domains names would be... Things like racist terms in a TLD extension of that specific nationality, or using the TLD extensions to create a full word like "www.asparag.us"
.
Anyone thinking Dr Kevorkian is going to by the "euthen.asia" domain?

.asia is going live on 26 March...that is really first come first served! Of course, most of the premium name would be gone!

Talking about landrush...there is a real landrush appearing on 25th March..that is the ccTLD of Malaysia, .my
