In a few weeks we are planning on taking a drive for some sight seeing around the Southeastern US (GA, KY, TN, AL, SC, NC - or even Northern FL area). What are some good areas to visit that are kid friendly?

Orlando FL (northern-ish), maybe St Augustine (oldest city in the US) - just south of Jacksonville, FL.

St Augustine would be an option. Forgot about that one.

Orlando we can go to any time as its only a couple hours north. Looking for more out of the state or something to visit along the way.

I just got back from Key West, Miami and Orlando. Great places, but Key West is my favorite if the weather is fine. If you got kids, Orlando is a must (Disney World, Universal Studios and a dozen of other theme parks).

If you decide to visit Orlando, check out Radisson on Parkway Blvd. Awesome hotel for kids; huge gameroom, two big swimming pools, spas and even a waterslide and waterfall. The price was very fair also. :)

Edit: Didn't read this. :)

Yes, Radisson rules. It's very close to Disney as well.

jdk, if you like waterparks try Southern Georgia, very close to the FL border to the north of Jax. I can't remember the name but it was a blast!

Forgot to mention, kids are 3 and 2. I am thinking the Atlanta Zoo may be nice, although we live 5 mins from Lion Country Safari here in WPB.

 I think that is why my wife keeps hinting about visiting there. That or she wants to give me up.

I think the Atlanta Aquarium is better.

I hear that the aquarium in Atlanta is extremely nice (up there with the Boston aquarium). We almost went there one day when we were in Macon for a dog show but didn't make it.

If you & the wife have time, Helen GA is a beautiful place, and it should be about time for octoberfest. Not sure if there's much for the kids though.
