Because it's easier to remember the .mobi URL rather than the .com redirect. But you already knew that. Perhaps you should ask Fox. They feel the need to use .mobi. In fact you should probably call them right now and tell them how silly they are for branding in .mobi while a lengthier, harder-to-remember .com is REALLY what they need. I'm sure they'll slap themselves in the forehead for being so stupid, and immediately offer you their coveted Webmaster position.

Ah, because it's easier to remember, that why we need .mobi.

Maybe you should call Apple and ask them why they have .com on the Iphone browser keypad and not .mobi.

are you sure?

obamamobile.mobi 16 characters (8 syllables)

obamamobile.com 15 characters (7 syllables)

.com is shorter and better

What was the argument for the world needing .mobi again?

If Foxnews is promoting .mobi, why dont they use it? why redirect to a .com?

its the same argument of why we need .TV domains.... we dont when it comes all the way down to it. but, its a niche and alternative TLD thats being used heavily on TV these days. the only problem i have with .TV as a domainer is its a whole different game for a good number of the best domains.. premium renewal prices and such.

i can imagine how much flack the few .TV investors got in the early 2000's... this was before the explosion of online video, web 2.0, the social networking craze, etc. we are kind of in the same place with internet-on-mobile right now... a very very primitive state in the beginning stages... these are the dark ages.

are you sure?

obamamobile.mobi 16 characters (8 syllables)

obamamobile.com 15 characters (7 syllables)

.com is shorter and better

this doesnt really matter though, because a domainer already registered obamamobile.com and either the domainer not want to sell it or they didnt even try to buy it.

they choose what is at this point "an alternative TLD in a niche field".... i expect a lot of this in the future. it doesnt even need to be THE mobile TLD to have value... they could have choose a .org, .info, etc but they went with the one that made the most sense when they realized they couldnt get the .com

and dominator, were you absolutely serious when you said "who needs a mobile campaign" ???

Maybe you should call Apple and ask them why they are buying up lots of .me domains. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone else is wrong. Your points get more ridiculous every day you continue to fight .mobi.

foxnews.mobi redirects to: foxnews.proteus.com

Length of the redirect URL compared to the straight .mobi URL was pertaining to FoxNews,
not obamamobile.

I did. Future versions of Iphone browser will probably have .mobi on the browser keypad. The current version of Iphone is crude compared to what's coming.

Wishful thinking IMHO  We have heard it before. But would it make such a big difference anyway ?
If .mobi were dead we wouldn't be having these long threads debating .mobi two years after the launch.
It's because the extension is constantly pulled out of the grave by the supporters :)

For someone who cant understand the points in the first place, I can see how it would seem rediculous to you....

I dont invest in .me, but you invest in .mobi, So lets leave the calling to the speculators. ;)

No more or less than it does for .com.

Maybe. By the way, "rediculous" isn't a word, "ridiculous" is.

First, Learn to spell. Second, I get the point better than you do. You are a naysayer who constantly bashes new extentions to protect your .com portfolio. It's fine to defend yourself your portfolio but don't bring a corportation into the conversation that you haven't thoroughly researched. Which new extention they choose to support doesn't matter. You don't run their company. Everytime the issue of .mobi comes up you tell people to call and ask some company why they aren't using .mobi or redirecting to a .com. If you want to know so bad stop being lazy and start doing your own research.

But the point is, .mobi became the butt of jokes because it brought little to the TLD table, certainly not the cellphone/mobile revolution that its Registry proclaimed. And that holds true for every other TLD introduced after the original triad, com/net/org.

What we see is that the Mobi Brigade is trying to push their crooked agenda on the rest of the community.

"MOBI SUKS" Can you please spell-check that one for me?, I'm not sure if I got it right

 :pound: :lol2:

Now your just saying anything and looking ignorant.. Truth is I have over 10 Different TLD's in my portfolio, including a couple .mobi's that I regret buying.

You really need to do something about your spelling... :der:

I tell people to call? I believe it was "bro-foe" who suggest I call FOX, I was responding to post #19 before you stuck your nose into all this. So maybe it's you who's too darn lazy to READ.
