I agree with Bichie. Market manipulation, most players know each other, and the noobs will listen to you, you want to pump up prices so you can sell your shit at inflated prices. Classic pump and dump scheme.

Anyway these days dot info has fallen out of fashion, it's dot tv and dot mobi now.

'Its the potential baby!'.

Yeah right :)

Stick it up your a$$.

I think .info is a solid extension to build a site on. After .com and maybe your country TLD, your best choices for extensions are .net .org and .info, and not necessarily in that order.

The popularity of any extension relies on getting sites up and advertised so the general public see the extension and know of it's existence. I see more .info sites advertised now than ever before, and it will probably only increase. Same goes for .tv and hopefully we'll see more .mobi sites advertised too.

I think what he means is that there are many pros here that bought heavy into the info field, probably picked up a lot of infos on the drop, paying good money at snapnames etc and are now hoping for prices to increase one strategy being very vocal about .infos.
Just making noise worked so far for .mobi, so why shouldnt it work for .info? Maybe too late..

I myself still reg .infos all the time, because there are still many good ones out there and its cheap to reg them, but that also says something about value...
The most trades in .info right now are among the domain professionals, its almost been 6 years now for .info and saying something like that a .info Boom is near seems more like desperation in order the move prices up than any substantial evidence.
I think we will need to see .mobi demand decline in the coming year in order for other second class TLDs such as .infos to show significant increases.

What's there to do on a forum if you can't be vocal? It's the tone in which he said it that pissed me off.

Just thought I would throw this out to you.

About a month and a half ago, I created a list of 25 available .info, each what I felt were the best English dictionary words beginning with the letter A and B.

When I checked just a few moments ago, 14 of the 25 are now regged.

I'm a newbie - optimistic with a healthy dose of skepticism. I can't speak for every other new guy on the block - but I take a lot of this speculation over old and new extensions (not all, not China) with a grain of salt.

If much of what makes up the value of domains comes from the diminishing supply of availablity - than it just doesn't make sense that value will rise if every few years, a different extension is suddenly trendy. And if 'info' does have potential - than it would seem like the big players would actually refrain now from selling the good ones, in order to create a illusion of scarcity - kind of like what the real players did in the diamond industry. So the fact that there are so many info's available and that I was actually able to hand register some decent generics - makes me very skeptical.

Also, I see many people (even on this board) offering up their .info's as a bonus when trying to sell their .com names. So, aside from my above analysis - it just gives off this kind of cheap gift bonus feeling when someone is desperately trying to move product off the shelves...hoping the average consumer thinks they are getting some amazing deal.

The flip side of this is that it allows domainers to perhaps get higher prices for mediocre .com domains b/c they are including the 'info'. That's not such a bad scenario...better than being totally valueless.
