If someone wants to revolutionize the domain auction model, just mimic Sedo... but with customer service. :D

Absolutely spot on but with their old platform rather than their crappy new one.........

If it ever arrives, let us all hope that the domain auction platform 2.0 will factor in earnings, traffic, search rankings, etc... If you own example.com, example.net, and example.org, it would also be nice to be able to sell those as a package. Here in 2010, Sedo can't even seem to muster the technology necessary to swing something that simple.

lol

you cannot mimick or create another sedo, or ebay, or amazon, twitter, facebook, etc... they were the first to do what they do which is why they get everybody's biz, they proved themselves from the start and have this thing called "customer loyalty" after all this years

Companies come, and companies go.

Their biggest flaw was drowning themselves in poor quality names. The second biggest flaw was the interface and listing procedures. It doesn't take much. A few extra clunky steps, and you lose alot of people.

The market spoke... bido did not offer anything special or unique and was headed for failure from day one. Especially with the current enconomic condition.

Just look at RickLatonas pathetic live auctions, they deliver NILL with all the money he has has spend promoting . As mentioned, SEDO, SNAPNAMES,etc have control of the market. its to late for anyone to jump into the water and think they can get a piece of the pie!

I applaud them for taking the risk and giving the business a good try.

Mostly right. Sedo can be bested though. They are very stogy and their negotiation method (if you can call it that) is painful. In an era when instant response is expected, they must review each and every comment that is made sometimes taking as long as 3-4 days for review if there is a holiday and always at least 24 hours. They don't seem to fully grasp that they need sellers as well as buyers.

The average end user knows who the other people on this list are but few have ever heard of Sedo. Many don't even know how to buy a domain. I had people in person ask me if they are even allowed to own a domain name in the last few months! For a knowledgeable and deep pocketed person who really understands the domain market, a significant share could be taken from them. Many of us would run to them plus we can list our names with Sedo and anyone else too. I can only run an auction in one place at a time thus ebay's preeminence. The after market is where it will be at unless you want CrappyName1-Inc.com (which some people do seem to be satisfied with) as your companies domain name. Someone like Rick Latona or a similarly set domainer should be looking at this instead of just trying to swap names between domainers. The market availability here may be great especially if you can reach end users.

I read they claim 6 fig offers already... closing would end up being the best thing that ever happened lol

I wonder if the new guy who pays 6 figs fails really bad if he can flip it for 7 figs?

Bido should rebrand themselves a Spamming company (to be honest, I think they already have branded themselves as a Spam Masters, Not offending someone, Sahar even spammed his blog with bido is this or bido is that, blahh blah...., Why people even spam their personal blogs)?
