Biggest Dutch techno site now on .mobi domain

Tweakers.net -- the biggest Dutch website featuring news and information about hardware, software and the Internet -- entered the .mobi domainspace. Their old mobile friendly site pda.tweakers.net redirects from now on to tweakers.mobi. The announcement on the .net front page is also "tweakers.mobi".

Tweakers.net has approximately 750 million pageviews a month and is the 26th website of the Netherlands according to Alexa. It is part of the VNU publishing network.

Amazing.

So despite all the calls from the Mobiphobic Mob, despite all the protests here, and foaming at the mouth...

Tweakers.mobi launched.....WOW!

So the esteemed, the influential, the beautiful Sashas and the good ol honest as a 3 dollar bill, Acronym007 were unsuccesful thru their blogging here to thwart the launch of this MAJOR enduser .mobi site??

What gives?

Which companies next will defy Sashas and his gang of dotMobi haters?

Will we see PartyPoker.mobi launch & promoted?
or maybe, MTV.mobi? or perhaps, Visa.mobi?

hmmmm...

I LOVE it!!

Now don't get cocky. A friend of mine (and fellow mobi hater) is running through a list of all fortune 500 companies to see how many have live .mobi sites...as of now, things don't look good - 60 checked, just 5 live sites, many company .mobi names squatted on by domainers, including names like Pepsi.mobi and AMD.mobi

In any case, tweakers.mobi looks better than pda.tweakers.net , thats a
bit outdated.

have your friend also do the same thing for .net / .org / .info / .biz & .us and let us know the results.

That WHOIS would most likely come up as Seven Mile, Conceptualist, hell...maybe even a few members here. But you left out .com, like spyware.com...why doesn't Norton or others own that? Imagine, generics not TM or owned by the big names. I'll believe in .com when Sony owns TV and Canon owns camera.

See how pointless all this can become?

i do agree, but i feel very strongly that his friend will find far more .mobi than any other of the extensions mentioned ... meaning outside of .com, .mobi will be the next most used extension by the F500 - hell, 5 out of the first 60 checked is a great start, i'd bet there isn't 5 .infos/.org/ .biz in use in total.

well, I would at least expect Pepsi to own Pepsi.mobi, wouldn't you?

one thing: no one posts every little .net/.org/.info sighting to hype up the extension.

I have a problem with the hype and the artificial inflation. Not with the extension. If there's a need for .mobi, it'll be found by itself. Posting 600+ threads about every .mobi site you come across isn't cool in my book. I haven't seen this being done for any other extension, and there are a lot out there.

Why? Mercedes-Benz does not own theirs. Look at Mercedes-Benz.mobi. Some Chinese site with a BMW.

Quite freaking out and stressing over this shit. That is why it is called URDP and WIPO.

Have no fear, grasshopper...pepsi will own pepsi. The dumbass that regged it will find out.

Give it a rest. You are trying too hard to disprove the usage of .mobi by major corporations. What you are proving is how little knowledge you have regarding marketing, commerce, socioeconmics, and even domaining for that matter.

I have a problem with the hype and the artificial inflation.
Then ignore the damn hype. How difficult is that?

Who gives a shit if it is one thread or 1000 threads? Hype? How many piece of shit domains are for sale on this forum that are nothing but pure hype by the owners? Pure shit trying to inflate its value and hype the hell out of it.

Deal with it. If not, then ignor it like many have now felt about you and your asinine points.

That in fact, gives me even more reason to believe that big companies aren't giving shit about .mobi.
And don't compare .mobi with .info or some other extension; no one hypes .info, .net, .org like .mobi is hyped up

Doc, on the other hand, I think the contrary. I don't believe I need to prove that to you or anyone else.

Hmm, me thinks could be a problem with the registry, the marketers, the domainers not building sites?

Buy the way, the .mobi above has a hyphen, not the real MB to begin with. But it will get seized. If they didn't give a shit then there would be no such thing as TM, WIPO and URDP.

But go ahead and carry on this conversation.

I'm going to bed. I'll leave a browser window open so you can pretend I am here and I really do care what you have to say.
